Caitlin MacLean
(She/Her/Hers)
Caitlin (she/her) is a thoughtful and compassionate Art Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), believing that creative expression invites us to explore our emotions and experiences that may otherwise be hard to articulate. With knowledge and experience facilitating art therapy in healthcare and community settings, Caitlin has supported individuals and groups in navigating eating disorders and body image concerns, perfectionism, identity and self-esteem, mood-related concerns, life transitions, and emotional regulation. She recognizes that each person deserves a space to grow and communicate in ways that feel authentic.
Caitlin utilizes a person-centred, trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, and works to create a warm and inviting space where individuals and groups can openly navigate and express their thoughts, emotions and experiences. Collaborating with clients, she integrates therapeutic modalities with intention and tailors each session to the individual or group needs. Drawing from narrative, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) approaches, she uses the creative process alongside discussion. With the intention of fostering process-oriented creative expression, artmaking is offered as a tool for curiosity and exploration, supporting clients to identify and communicate their emotions, strengthen their sense of self and create meaningful change.
She holds a Graduate Level Diploma in Art Therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, and a Honours Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Trent University Durham.
When not in the therapy space, Caitlin enjoys going for walks while listening to music or a podcast, and spending time with family and friends. When she’s in a new city, town or neighborhood, Caitlin loves to find and try the local coffee shops!
